Training the Three Disciplines
Swim (3-4x/week)
Pool sessions at Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre, University of Toronto Athletic Centre, or your local community pool. Open water practice at Cherry Beach, Woodbine Beach, or Centre Island (June-September). Join the Toronto Triathlon Club for coached swim sessions.
Bike (3x/week)
The Don Valley Parkway (closed to cars on select days), Humber Trail, and roads north to King City and Caledon are popular. Indoor: Zwift sessions during Toronto's long winters. Many GTA bike shops offer group rides.
Run (3-4x/week)
Brick sessions (bike-to-run transitions) are crucial. Practice along the Martin Goodman Trail or the Beltline. Join a run club for accountability.
Strength Training for Triathletes
The biggest mistake triathletes make is skipping strength work. 2-3 sessions per week dramatically reduce injury risk and improve power output.
Key exercises:
- Squats & lunges — Cycling and running power
- Deadlifts — Posterior chain for all three disciplines
- Planks & core work — Swimming efficiency and bike aero position
- Single-leg exercises — Balance and injury prevention
FIXIT tracks your strength sessions alongside your swim/bike/run, giving you a complete picture of your training load. The AI form checker ensures your squat depth, deadlift mechanics, and lunge alignment are dialed in — preventing the overuse injuries that plague triathletes.
